KB Installation Instructions for Linux Systems

make kb directory and extract tarball files into it

run install_kb_bells as superuser (see README_BELLS and source code in
the kb_bells subdirectory)

in control center:
 disable keyboard shortcut keys for <alt>F9 and <alt>Esc
  (better yet, disable all keyboard shortcut keys except for print,
  <alt>print, <control><alt>left, and <control><alt>right)
 set screen resolution to 800 x 600 (gives best font for SuSE), higher
  resolutions are also ok
 uncheck enable sound server startup (SuSE 9.2 only)

edit (as root) /etc/sysconfig/cron to set CLEAR_TMP_DIRS_AT_BOOTUP="yes"

edit (as root) /etc/init.d/cron and change start) to dont-start)
 to disable cron startup (run cron manually once a week, reboot before
 running kb)

add yourself to group uucp

for network support, set up your network with static addresses for each
 computer, and edit (as root) /etc/hosts to add them

edit DEFAULT.INI (first 10 lines ONLY!) to put in your callsign, name,
 address, latitude, and longitude

save setup when logging out (necessary this time only)

reboot and login

in terminal window change to kb directory

type ./kb <enter> to start the program

have fun!
